Ideas for recipes can come from all sorts of places, and twitter is certainly no exception. There are plenty of great ideas in the ‘twitter-sphere’.
The idea for this recipe came from @theboxingcoach on 2 May 2012: “Today’s Breakfast: Banana mixed with raw nuts & raisins topped with skim milk. Will keep you going till lunchtime!” Since seeing this tweet, I have tweaked and played with it to create my version.
There is nothing complicated about this recipe at all and I have deliberately avoided using exact measurements because it doesn’t need it. Just play with the ingredients you like and make it your own. To make it a bit more nutritious and healthy, try to pick raw and unprocessed ingredients.
A handful of raw almonds
A handful of pistachios
A handful of raisins
A banana sliced
A few spoons of natural sheep yoghurt (or natural cows yoghurt if you prefer)
A fig
A small spoon of honey
Combine the nuts, raisins and banana in a serving bowl or glass. Top with yoghurt. Add figs and a small amount of honey.
This breakfast is a great option if you find yourself getting the nibbles in the late afternoon. And it is full of nutritious elements such as minerals and essential fatty acids.
